2020-2021 Covid Challenges

9/29/2021

After an initial lull due to the Covid pandemic, enforcement agencies are resuming both in-person and virtual inspections, as well as penalty actions.  Business staffing shortages continue to make compliance, record keeping, reporting, and facility upgrades a challenge.

As regulatory programs continue to age, agency inspectors are diving into more detail with each inspection.  Just because it wasn't mentioned before doesn't mean it's not going to be mentioned now.  Storm water, air, and hazardous materials inspections continue to get more detailed and more nuanced.

Now is the time to optimize programs and get data collection and records organized, automated and shifted to the cloud wherever possible.  Facility and operational modifications may help avoid cumbersome requirements if done right.  Businesses need every efficiency to stay ahead of regulatory challenges.  Contact us if you need ideas!

Metal Industry Under Scrutiny in L.A.

South Coast Air Quality Management District continues their study of metal industry operations in response to complaints of high levels of metallics in the Los Angeles area.  Multiple violations have been issued to various facilities for both air and other permitting issues, we believe the best response for a business is to assess their compliance status across all media (air, waste, water) and all programs (TRI, Prop 65, Haz Mat, Stormwater, etc) prior to being visited by inspectors.
